Cheongung (M-SAM) is a highly advanced medium-range surface-to-air guided weapon system defending major military and industrial facilities against enemy air attacks. 

Initial turn of the interceptor is achieved by side jet thrusters immediately after the vertical launch which ensures omnidirectional coverage for the defended area. The unparalleled kill probability of the Cheongung interceptor has been increased by the employment of terminal radio-frequency homing and a directional warhead.

The Cheongung system consists of the Information Coordination Central, Engagement Control Station, Multi-Functional RADAR, Launchers, and Interceptors.
