KDX-III Batch-II Integrated Sonar System
KDX-III Batch-II Integrated Sonar System Shipborne Sonar System
The KDX-III Batch-II Integrated Sonar System is a bistatic capable sonar system designed for destroyer class surface ships. Currently under development, the system is able to detect submarines from great distances, made possible by the integration of multiple independent sonars such as bow mounted sonars and active towed array sonars.
The low frequency active bow mounted sonar along with the active towed array sonar allows the system to utilize the acoustic phenomena of bottom bounce and convergence zone in order to detect and track enemy submarines. Not only such, but the system is also able to passively detect and alert on incoming enemy torpedoes.
