The Blackout Bomb is an air-to-ground weapon system used to neutralize power grids and cut enemy's electric power supply which is essential to operations.

The Blackout Bomb consists of a cluster warhead packed with conductive fiber submunitions and a Korean Guided GPS Bomb Kit. The operation begins with the release of the bomb from a fighter aircraft at a stand-off point, followed by the dispersion of submunitions above the predesignated target area at which the enemy power grid is located. The Blackout Bomb is a soft-kill weapon that cuts the enemy power supply for certain period and can be utilized to provide strategic flexibility to allied forces.
