Night Observation Equipment
The Thermal Observation Device (TOD) is a night observation camera that acquires images using infrared radiation emitted by target objects.
The TOD possesses exceptional penetration capabilities, piercing through obscurants such as fogs, haze, and conventional battlefield smoke and operates independent of the visible light level of the surrounding environment.
The TOD was developed for border surveillance by ADD with indigenous technology. In 1998 (December), the TOD significantly contributed to the detection and defeat of an infiltrating North-Korean semi-submarine boat off the coast of Yeosu.
