Fuel Cells and Special Batteries
Fuel Cells and Special Batteries
Fuel Cells and Special Batteries are key components which supply electric power to weapon systems to improve their propulsion, long-duration mission capability, and reliability.
Modern advanced weapon systems require a wide range of different types of energy resources for each assigned mission, such as thermal batteries, lithium primary and secondary batteries, seawater batteries, fuel cells and so forth.
Thermal batteries are mainly utilized in the high-power and high-reliability demanding weapon systems including missiles and torpedoes.
Lithium primary and secondary batteries are gradually expanding their application range from small radios to exercise torpedoes, submarines, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Seawater batteries are used for light weight torpedo propulsion. Fuel cells are being developed for submarines and unmanned underwater vehicles.
