Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an information technology that augments human perception, judgment, and decision-making capabilities, crucial in building future defense systems represented by autonomy, intelligence and unmanned technology.

ADD has conducted research on object detection and recognition based on cumulated data from battlefields including partially occluded object images from various electro-optical image sensors and underwater acoustic signals which are difficult to identify with human sensories.

ADD is currently conducting research on acoustic recognition, object recognition from satellite imagery, and TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher) recognition and is actively developing embedded AI (Tiny AI) devices. Situational awareness techniques for complex tactical environments using multiple sensor/ fused data are also currently under research.
