Jamming disrupts and hinders enemy's usage of the electromagnetic spectrum. Once called electromagnetic countermeasure (ECM), it is now commonly referred to as electronic attack (EA).

Jamming is categorized into: communication and radar jamming depending on the target signals; noise and deception jamming depending on the jamming techniques; self-protection and stand-off jamming depending on the operational concepts; and decoy and classical jamming depending on the methods of protecting the allied assets.

Intelligent self-learning-based autonomous jamming technology is in development to respond to environmental changes in the future battlefields and North Korea's missile threats.
